Luminex LumAvidin™ Microspheres

Luminex LumAvidin Microspheres Luminex LumAvidin Microspheres

The powerful multiplexing capabilities of the Luminex systems and software are due to advanced chemistry and simplicity of the Luminex® Coupling Beads.

LumAvidin Beads

LumAvidin Beads are general use components for further manufacture of xMAP bioassays. They are internally labeled with fluorescent dyes and contain a surface layer of Avidin for near covalent binding of biotin and biotinylated ligands.

There are 100 distinct sets of these 5.6 micron, polystyrene LumAvidin Microspheres which support many different custom applications, including cytokines, immunoglobulins, SNPs, viral loads, and others. Each bead set can be coated with a reagent specific to a particular bioassay, allowing the capture and detection of specific analytes from a sample. Within the Luminex compact analyzer, lasers excite the internal dyes that identify each microsphere particle, and also any reporter dye captured during the assay. Many readings are made on each bead set, further validating the results. In this way, the xMAP technology allows multiplexing of up to 100 unique assays within a single sample, both rapidly and precisely.

Hitachi Software is a globally licensed distributor of xMAP instruments and reagents. Our xMAP products are manufactured and shipped directly by Luminex Corporation.
