The Luminex 200 system is a multi-analyte bioassay detection system capable of multiplexing up to 100 assays simultaneously in a single microtiter plate well. This system combines internally colored microspheres, lasers, optics, fluidics, and advanced digital processing into a single, integrated system that increases assay specificity and throughput.

The Luminex 200 system is specifically designed for multiplexing a wide range of bioassays such as immunoassays, enzyme functions, receptor-ligand interactions, genotyping, and HLA typing.  It is specifically engineered to meet and exceed the needs for in-vitro diagnostic requirements in clinical laboratories.

Luminex Strengths

Simultaneously Analyze up to 100 Assays

There are a total of 100 unique xMAP microspheres that act as both the identifier and the solid surface to build the assay.

Improve Experiment Accuracy

Each microsphere is internally labeled with fluorescent dyes to allow for accurate identification of each bead.  After identification of the bead, the reporter fluorescence is measured giving a median fluorescence intensity for that particular assay. 

Enables Experiments with Small Sample Amounts

The Luminex analyzer allows for the simultaneous measurement of up to 100 analytes in a single microtiter plate well using small sample volumes.  

Enables High Speed Measurements

The Luminex system takes advantage of flow cytometry technology, allowing for rapid measurements. For example, an assay of 50 samples with 100 analytes (estimate 100 beads per one sample, for a total of 5,000 beads) can be acquired in 30 minutes to an hour.
